Who can be a housewife?

For our purposes, we consider “Housewife” a gender-neutral term. ANYBODY can be a Housewife. So, if you love people, care about making their lives better, understand that cleaning can do that, and want a job where you will be paid well and highly valued, please apply. We want you on our team.

*All Housewives will be screened through at least two interviews, a skills assessment, and thorough background check before hiring and training begin.


What does hire a housewife do?

We offer a wide range of services from residential cleaning and laundry to organizing and errands. We also have some special services that you can find under our “Services” tab.

Unlike other cleaning companies, we don't have a set list of things we will do. We have the client write out a prioritized list (or fill out the checklist we provide) and then we work through it for the amount of time you scheduled. The list can change every time or remain the same. It's up to you.

We charge $46/hr with a 3-hour minimum. However, you can get a $5/hr discount by buying hours in advance in blocks of 12 or more... which makes a 3 hour cleaning $123 vs $138 when paid at the time of service.


How is HAH different from others?

No contracts -  We'll come out one time or every week. It's up to you.
No set list of duties - We work from your prioritized list to make sure that we do what you need done the most. This week that may be dishes. Next week you may need all the baseboards cleaned. The week after may include pulling the weeds in the flower bed. We do what you need done.
No cleaning up before we get there - Does your bedroom look like a laundry basket exploded in there? No worries! We'll pick it up before we clean.
No guilt or embarrassment - Whatever mess you don't want people to see... we've already seen it, already cleaned it up, and it was probably in our own home. We understand. We're here to help, not judge.
We take care of our employees -  In general, housekeeping has notoriously high employee turnover.  We want our employees to want to stay with us and to want to bless your home with their hard work.  We strive to make them feel appreciated so they will continue to provide high-quality service for you. 


Which products does HAH use?

We use our client's cleaning supplies for a number of reasons. Most importantly, you can be assured that we are not bringing in contaminants from other houses. In addition, we are using the products that you prefer on your home's surfaces.

Our employees are taught about Norwex products during training due to their popularity.

We prefer not to use bleach or products that contain bleach, but most other products are fine.

If we have an idea for a product that will make cleaning easier for next time (or if you are running out of something) we will let you know. However, we do not sell or particularly endorse any specific products.


is hah insured and bonded?

Yes. We are covered for all residential and commercial services.


do you have evening or weekend hours?

No. On some rare occasions we have made special one-time arrangements for clients. However, that is not something we ask our Housewives to do regularly.


We do not require a contract for cleaning, but we do have a 24hr notice cancellation policy for hourly houses.  Clients canceling an appointment less than 24 hours in advance will be assessed a $35 cancellation fee which we will forward to the employee in its entirety.

The cancellation of a 3 hour appointment can mean a 10%-25% difference in an employee's paycheck. This policy softens the blow for them and helps ensure their security, loyalty, and happiness.

At Hire A Housewife we cater our services to specifically meet your needs. By charging by-the-hour as opposed to offering a flat-rate cleaning, you know that you are getting as much help as possible, and we know that we are doing what needs to be done to brighten your day. Also, it gives us the freedom to offer the types of services that flat-rate cleaners can't... cooking, shopping, pet care and more!
